Well, I'll be honest, I underestimated the ripples that this would cause. This post is a clarification, a conclusion, and even partially an apology.
I'm going to frame this post on a series of numbered points. It's more organized.
1. I have never and do not hate homosexuals.
2. I do not believe that homosexuals are lesser people.
3. I am totally opposed to persecuting homosexuals.
4. The Bible states that homosexuality is a sin.
5. Yes, I believe that homosexuals are sinners. However, I believe that every human being is a sinner. Calling someone a mean name is probably a sin. Everybody sins. Including, perhaps especially, me. God does not hate homosexuals and the idea that he does is very mistaken. God loves homosexuals.
6. God created sex to be between man and woman. To distort God's invention of sex is wrong, according to the Bible.
7. A few days ago, I did not believe that one can be a practicing Christian and be a homosexual at the same time. Right now, I don't even know anymore. I don't know if homosexuals can go to Heaven or not, I'm sorry. I do still believe that they need to realize that it's a sin, however, and that they need to ask God for forgiveness. Just like every sin.
8. I still believe that homosexuality is wrong. But maybe I was too harsh. I am trying to do the best I can in understanding issues like this and one of the reasons that I created this blog was to learn in the process. I make mistakes just like everyone else and it's possible that I was too blunt in my post. So for the people that I offended, I sincerely apologize.
9. After I publish this post, I'm done on this issue over the internet. You'll have to talk to me in person.
10. Tomorrow is national day of silence for gay rights.
11. Think of it like this: I'm against abortion, you're for abortion. I believe that abortion is wrong but I don't hate people who get them. You assume that I hate everyone who gets an abortion so you get really mad at me.
If you are a homosexual, then it doesn't influence how I interact with you or what I think of your character. I just disagree.
Homophobe and BTW gods not real religion was created so that early man could understand his existence and i believe that we as a more evolved being should stop believing in a higher power because there really no solid proof of their existence and I think we should treat this like the whole santa thing once we get past a certain point we need to move on from these simplistic and often childish things I'm not trying to persuade anyone but really think logically and can u honestly say there is a god unless ur in denial or just plain nuts u cant and that is why this whole thing is just a load of crap. I mean I did go through church when I was younger hated it because im an atheists or I guesa better clarified I'm agnostic if u give me good logical proof then why the hell not ill conform to the stupidity of religion but until then I will never believe in a god and for anyone who is cathloic all the pope is, is a CEO of on of the most profitable businesses in the wor/d bull shit i mean really I don't think he is more in touch with god than anyone else because if there is a god then its stated in the bible that all people are equal in gods eyes so really all the pope does is get rich on the stupidity of man kind and harboring petifiles that about sums it up the moral of the story kids is that religion are complete and total bull shit and should be treated as such.
ReplyDeleteBradley..just keep standing up for what you believe in. Props to you for staying strong. It's ok to not know all the answers.
ReplyDeleteGod is not real
ReplyDeleteThis guy is right on the money god is bs
ReplyDeleteThere you go Bradley. That's how you do it. If you want people to respect and understand your viewpoints you have to respect and understand theirs. Well said bro
ReplyDeleteHmph you approve a positive comment but supposedly claim you will not approve a comment contradictory to your post?
ReplyDelete(not meant to be published.)
This comment isn't worth a name, but you know who I am ;)
either way, you can bar my comments, but you will still see them yourself.
Congradulations. Your blog has achieved exactly what I believe you created it for. You posted about a controversal issue, there was lots of discussion about it, it made people (including yourself) stop and think about what they believe in. I think it is important to always question what we believe in so that we don't end up believing in something blindly, we need a reason.
ReplyDeleteMark 5 10-12 In the words of Jesus Christ:
"Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil agianst you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you."
May God be will all the supporters and opposers of the topics in this blog. May in the midst of our debates we discover what we truly believe in. May enyone in disagreement with someone else find respect in their hearts.
Keep it up Bradley! Your doing great and its ok to make mistakes because you are learning from them. I'm still praying for you! Your doing a great job with this blog!

Sweet, I've officially convinced people to use numbered lists in organized argumentation :)
ReplyDeleteI know you said you wouldn't publish this, but I can always continue to send you these messages, which you will see.
I am glad you wish to learn though, but this will require an open-mind. Temporarily attempt to look beyond the Bible. The Bible can be an anchor point.
Also, just saying, the invention of sex sounds strange haha.
Again...my experiences have revealed to me many arguments of gays that have never been said before, but I still think you've taken enough blows, so I'll save it for a later day.
I don't remember if I told you or not, but I do apologize for my pestilence in the Grace through Faith post. I don't agree that the Jesus Door is the only one, but I don't have a problem with that view whatsoever either.
May you find peace and ponder in the silence of the night.
It's lame that you only publish selected posts. I sent you the most academically sound of all the comments and I see it's not on here. Keep living in denial, bud. Homosexuality is not a sin.
ReplyDeleteYou are calling this a "partial apology" but are still saying that homosexuals need to ask for forgiveness just for being how they were born. You are honestly a horrible person and everything that is wrong with Christians. People like you are why I choose to be atheist.
ReplyDeleteIn 50 years you'll look back and be embarrassed that you believed these things Bradley.
ReplyDeleteGay marriage is the interracial marriage debate of our generation.
Get over it, being gay doesn't affect your life, and if you're really that selfless that you really wanna "save their life," why don't you go volunteer at a homeless shelter or something?

I love attempting to sound deep haha
ReplyDeletekeyword, attempting. :)
It's fun though; try it sometime
i like how you gave DOS a shout it and yet was vehemently opposed to participating. face-saving gesture?
ReplyDeleteI fully agree with that. It's completely out of place with the rest of your post.
ReplyDeleteFine, one reply.
ReplyDeleteI posted that for a reason. I wanted everyone to be aware of it so I could see how many people would wear tape on their mouths. I got so many adverse responses that I wanted to see whether the majority of the people talking online would actually step up and support their views in person and not just over the internet as an anonymous person.
I saw four people at school, although there were probably a few more. Dozens of people who I specifically know to have posted against me on here did not, apparently, believe it strongly enough to observe the very day they were advocating.
So that's why I posted that.
Haha, at first I agreed with the anonomii, but then I read your response, Bradley.
ReplyDeleteYou deserve more credit than I gave you there. That's actually very clever.
I'd like to point out that I did do it though :)
Did you see me?
Should have fleshed it out as a challenge then.
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to point out that just because people did not put tape over their mouth, it did not mean that they did not support gay rights. Some people feel that the day of of silence is in fact counterproductive because it does not allow people to really realize the troubles and struggles that gays face in society today. Taping your mouth only brings so much awareness. Advocating it and being vocal would bring so much more. I personally did not tape my mouth but instead am promoting gay rights vocally through other methods.
